Job Description:
The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks to employ career-oriented candidates and offers employment opportunities in a wide variety of challenging occupations. ODOC’s mission is to promote public safety by holding offenders accountable for their actions and reducing the risk of future criminal behavior.
This position has been approved to work anywhere in Oregon, near a facility for on-site support. Official work location will be determined at time of hire. The Oregon Department of Corrections has facilities in Salem, Wilsonville, Portland, Umatilla, Pendleton, Baker City, Lakeview, Ontario, and Tillamook.
If you do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Information Systems Specialist 3, you will be able to apply as an underfill as an Information Systems Specialist 2.
If you are chosen to underfill you will receive the payrate associated with the lower classification until the time that you meet the minimum qualifications for the permeant position. At that time you will be automatically moved to the appropriate classification.
This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Your role:
You keep things running! Receive calls and emails from across the state to assess and triage technical issues. Resolve what you can and hand off more hands-on issues to your team of experts. The person for this job loves to help people keep things moving and can coax the important technical details out anyone so they can clearly communicate it in a way the rest of the ITS team understands
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications for Information Systems Specialist 3, ($4,095 - 6,648 / Month)
Two (2) years of information systems experience in receiving, triaging, and resolving end user ITS issues
OR
An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field.
Minimum Qualifications for Information Systems Specialist 2 Underfill, ($3,571 - 5,809/ Month)
One (1) year of information systems experience
OR
An equivalent combination of experience/training.

An equivalent combination of experience/training.
Requested Skills
- Ticketing and tracking software
- Troubleshooting and determining the scope of an issue
- Maintain detailed logs and notes or issues, resolutions, and interactions
- Communicating technical information to stakeholders with a variety of ITS proficiency
- Triaging and resolving issues with printers, PCs, terminals, servers, modems, cables, and profiles/passwords

Requirements for Employment
Successful candidates for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
