Title I Summer ‘Transition Academy’ Program

Instructional Coach - Middle School

Qualifications (Required):

• Valid Massachusetts Teacher Certification.
• Successful teaching, coaching, and/or administrative experience.
• Ability to plan and supervise the implementation of targeted, small-group literacy and numeracy instruction for teachers.
• Relate/communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and administrators.
• Previous experience with summer and/or intervention programs preferred.
• Ability to relate /communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and
• administrators.
• Instructional coach must commit to being present for each day of the program. See dates below for more info.

Qualifications (Preferred):

• Valid Massachusetts Administrator license as a principal/assistant principal and/or supervisor/director.
• Experience working in the Malden Public Schools.
• ESL Licensed or SEI Endorsement.
• License in Special Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support referral process and registration/scheduling of students.
• Meet with program coordinator and Title I Director about curricular resources needed for the program.
• Collaborate with the program coordinator about the planning and scheduling of small-group instructional ‘WIN’ blocks in literacy and numeracy.
• Oversee all disciplinary regulations and keep detailed notes of all disciplinary incidents during the program duration.
• Plan, implement, and lead the instructional professional development to summer staff the week before the start of the program (June 27-28).
• Support teachers in administering formative and summative assessments in both their small-groups and whole-group credit-recovery classes.
• Analyze the pre- and post- data at the conclusion of the program.
• Model and co-teach small-group instruction in literacy and numeracy for program staff.
• Supervise instructional implementation during the five weeks of the program.

Duration:

Program Administration and Implementation 115 hours total to include the following:

Professional In-service Days June 28 - 29 (5 hours each day).

18 days, Monday-Thursday, from July 5 – August 3 (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.).

Please note the first week of the program will run Wednesday and Thursday ONLY (7/5-7/6).

Pre/Post Program Work: 33 hours (April 15 – August 21).

Stipend: $37 an hour, $4,255.00 total
