Job Summary
Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking an Instructional Services Manager who provides leadership and strategic planning in the Learning Center for multi-site tutoring locations (on campus and online). Develops, administers, and evaluates the operations for drop-in and online tutoring services for students in the Math, Science, and Writing Success Centers, embedded class tutoring, online tutoring software utilization, student academic preparation, and the Academic Success Center. Recruits, hires, and evaluates Learning Center staff. In collaboration with faculty, implements retention interventions, and supports remediation efforts. The Instructional Services Manager ensures the Learning Center sites align with District vision, mission, and goals to support student success.

Essential Functions
50% Develop and support programming to address students transitioning into college, remediation, and retention. Work collaboratively with faculty to create and operate successful developmental education support programs. Help assess effectiveness of student learning. Recruits, trains, and supervises, learning center staff and tutors; establishes work priorities and work schedules; develops operational rules and procedures for drop-in and embedded tutoring in the Math, Science, and Writing Success Centers; trains and evaluates tutors in techniques and methods and monitors their effectiveness; administers the delivery and evaluation of training, and program/ project plans and activities; oversees maintenance of student records; designs and updates record keeping and tracking systems; prepares publicity materials; manages equipment status and repair.
20% Assists the Dean in the design and implementation of facilities; assists the Dean in budget preparation and monitors requisitions; assists the Dean in center fiscal planning and in writing grants and proposals; evaluates and selects materials for purchase; reviews program objectives and evaluation outcomes; prioritizes projects and initiatives in alignment with organizational objectives; participates in strategic planning and decision-making; gathers a variety of statistical data; prepares reports to include in Program Review; provides analyses and makes recommendations.
20% Works closely with other staff to include the Computer Commons, Assessment Center, Grants, Writing and Math Center, faculty and Division Chairs on student success initiatives; participates on Developmental Education Redesign Committee; Assessment for Learning Team (ALT); collaborates with faculty to identify students who need standard and specialized tutoring; makes presentations on a variety of learning assistance topics; conducts Learning Center tours; acts as a liaison to faculty and other college departments; represents the college on district tutoring committees.
10% Performs related duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position (Attends trainings, division meetings, participates in Guided Pathways work, supports non-credit learning options)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field, five years of related experience such as planning, developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating instructional services programs which includes two years of supervisory experience. A Master’s degree and three years of the above-listed experience, which includes two years of supervisory experience, may be required for some assignments.

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
1. Master’s degree in education or related tutoring subject areas (e.g. Mathematics, Science, English)
2. Demonstrated experience working with student success strategies serving underrepresented populations in a college setting
3. Demonstrated experience collecting, interpreting, and presenting statistical data
4. Experience reviewing program objectives and evaluating outcomes, and implementing program improvements to maximize student retention
5. Experience with the College and Reading and Learning Association’s tutor and/or peer educator certification programs
