Percussion Instructor: Notre Dame Preparatory Bands
Duties and Responsibilities:
In this position, you will exclusively work with the Notre Dame Prep Percussion Section and Drumline. The ideal candidate will create a positive, yet challenging and competitive environment in which students can achieve and excel.
Coordinate weekly Percussion Section/Drumline rehearsals
Attendance at: all Home football games (approx. 4-5 per season), Marching Band Festival (October–date/time TBD), Band Camp (July 31st-August 4th)
Prepares drumline for performances, providing positive and constructive leadership.
Manages percussion inventory and facilitates maintenance of percussion equipment when needed.
Tracks and records all pertinent information for individual student progress, including attendance, and task completion.
Organize and maintain attendance rosters using excel.
Perform other Band Program duties as assigned by the director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of Marching Band drill and execution required.
Extensive knowledge of applied percussion technique.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field with at least two years of relevant marching band experience, and experience performing as a member of a college/university band.
This position allows the instructor to set their own consistent rehearsal schedule at the approval of the director. All football games take place Fridays beginning late August at 7 PM. Call time is 6 PM for students and instructors (subject to change at the discretion of the director).
This contractor position will be paid via a Coaches Contract. Instructors can select to be paid half mid-season and paid half at the conclusion of the season OR (2) paid in full at the end of the season.
