Position Summary:

The Instrument and Control Technician will inspect, repair, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance of plant control systems and associated modules, input/output devices, peripheral equipment, and external instrumentation to insure correct and reliable operation of control systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Combustion control and burner management systems.
  • Gas compression and dehydration systems.
  • Stack flue gas monitoring systems, and other monitoring equipment to comply with environmental standards.
  • Water analyzing and treatment instrumentation so operations personnel can accurately control plant pH levels.
  • Other plant instruments and controls such as solid fuel fire systems and heating and air conditioning systems to insure proper functioning.
  • Keep records such as daily work reports, preventative maintenance records, equipment maintenance records and instrument calibration records
  • Study reference manuals, process control diagrams, blueprints and schematics and consult with vendors and manufacturers' representatives to research maintenance problems and prepare requisitions for replacement parts.
  • Troubleshoot pneumatic controls and troubleshoot by using blueprints. You will also need to be able to identify color of wires.

Qualifications:

  • Applicant must have at least 1 to 2 years of Instrument and Control experience in calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting in the areas listed below:
  • 1. Analog & Digital Controls (electronic & pneumatic) pressure, level, temperature flow Environmental Measurement: NO2, SO2, Opacity and CO2.
  • 2. Microprocessor Based Instrumentation & PLC systems (Allen-Bradley is CPL’s PLC of choice)
  • 3. Water Chemistry, Monitoring: pH controls, Silica, Conductivity, Density & Controls AC/DC & Solid State Theory Test Equipment & Troubleshooting
  • 4. Personal & Equipment Protection
  • Equipment familiarity with the following: Allen Bradley PLC’s Models: Compact Logix, Control Logix, Rosemount Transmitters / O2 Analyzers / Conductivity Analyzers, Allen Bradley Power Flex 750 VFD Drives, Yokogawa Hart and Brain Transmitters / O2 Analyzers, Emerson / Fisher Control valves / controls, Testo Portable Stack Analyzers, Pressure Switches / Ashcroft / Dwyer / Westlock / ITT Neodyne / Rockwell, Flame Safety Equipment / Fireye / Honeywell.
