Instrument Technician

TEXAS CITY, TX

Contech Control Services is seeking team-oriented professionals who have knowledge in
Instrument Technology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Instrument Technician performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following:

  • perform bench calibration of electronic instruments, transmitters, controllers and recorders.
  • loop check electrical wiring for continuity and proper termination;
  • perform field calibration of electronic instruments with transmitters, controllers, transducers, valves and recorders in service;
  • have good working knowledge of electronic test equipment (Hart 475/Trex, Fluke 789 or equivalent); use of decade resistance box; use of V.O.M.; install and tag terminations; valve and positioner stroke; and tuning of all types of loops (electrical and pneumatic).
  • ability to read and correlate information from blueprints; troubleshoot electrical instruments from blueprints; understand electrical one-line schematics and troubleshoot off them;
  • read P&ID’s and correlate location, service and type of instrument; and read ladder diagrams.
  • pressure testing pneumatic instruments for leaks; pressure testing pneumatic instruments with controllers, transducers and valves in service;
  • troubleshoot pneumatic instruments from blueprints; have good working knowledge of pneumatic test equipment; P.L.C. troubleshooting;

Requirements

The Instrument Technician requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • NCCER certification, and/or Instrumentation degree,
  • active TWIC is required.
  • must be strong on Instrument side, be able to troubleshoot Motors up to 480VAC, and associated motor controls.
  • Stand alone with minimal supervision under the direction of personnel

Working conditions are as follows:

  • Position Type: Full Time.
  • Standard Hours: Monday – Thursday.
  • Overtime: Occasionally.
  • Range: 6 months
  • Travel: No per diem

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42.00 - $50.00 per hour
