Chermak Construction is growing ! We are looking for a talented individual with design experience to join our in office team. We have been designing & completing beautiful residential & commercial projects in the greater Seattle area for 43 years!

Job Description:

  • Create designs & highly detailed drawings both by using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) applications – Preferable - Chief Architect & by hand.
  • Re-imagining area(s) to be functional, safe, & beautiful by determining space requirements & selecting essential & decorative items, such as colors, lighting, & materials.
  • Complete the design package, including construction details, as built & concepts to hand off to Project Developer specification writing.

Specific Duties:

  • Work with Clients & Project Developers to create as built, floor plans, elevations, & perspectives. Suggesting space planning, & finishes that fits within budgets & goals for residential & commercial remodeling projects.
  • Attending client meetings to understand the design needs & client preferences regarding interior styles & colors.
  • Visiting job sites to analyze space availability, design needs and calculate dimensions.
  • Arranging client visits & keeping everyone involved in the project appraised of its progress.
  • Identifying & prompt communication of potential design problems to the rest of the team.
  • Preparing, reviewing, & redrafting alongside the design team.
  • Ensure final designs comply with current building regulations & quality standards.
  • Responsible for preparing plans & permit submittal & tracking all permits to various municipalities.

Experience/Requirements:

  • 1+yrs - Design & drafting skills, proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) – Chief Architect REQUIRED.
  • Experience designing residential remodels of whole houses, additions, kitchens, baths, & basements, etc. Commercial design experience a plus.
  • Adapt plans according to budget constraints, environmental factors &/or client needs.
  • Creative imagination & practical understanding of construction.
  • General overall understanding of current building codes & mechanical codes.
  • Familiarity with city plan submittals a plus.
  • A keen eye for detail, as well as the ability to see the bigger picture of a project.
  • Strong communication skills, well-spoken & personable demeanor.
  • Ability to communicate concepts, thoughts, & ideas to others, both written & orally.
  • Respond in a timely manner to adjustments needed from the field during Production.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, & Outlook.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $52,000.00 - $64,000.00 per year
