DISTRICT - MULTIPLE LOCATIONS

TITLE: Interpreter/ASL

DEPARTMENT: Student Support Services

PAY GRADE 31: $27.65-28.76 (based on education and experience)

REPORTS TO: Building Principal / Director of Student Support Services

QUALIFICATIONS: Educational Interpreter Certificate for Indiana, or Indiana Interpreter Certificate, or National Interpreter Certification, or National Association for the Deaf Levels 3, 4, and 5 certification.

• Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Transliterates and translates instructional directions to students in individual and small group settings and facilitates communications between teacher and student.
• Works with students in Resource Room and main-stream settings.
• Assists students with study activities and in carrying-out assigned aspects of the individual education plan (IEP).
• Assists with closed captioning where available.
• Provides interpretation for ISTEP and other standardized or classroom tests.
• Reports on progress of student toward IEP goals to teacher of record.
• Assists with teaching appropriate social behaviors.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with teachers and students.
• Attends meetings and participates as member of educational team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.65 - $28.76 per hour

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
