Position Overview

The Office of Inspector General is seeking to hire a dynamic, organized, detail-oriented Investigations Chief for the Central Region. The Investigations Chief will be responsible for supervising a team of investigative and administrative staff within a geographical location responsible for analyzing relevant facts and data involving allegations of abuse, neglect, financial exploitation, deaths or serious injuries. The Office of Inspector General assists individuals with physical, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities and assists agencies and facilities in prevention efforts by investigating all reports of abuse, neglect and mistreatment in a timely manner, to foster humane, competent, respectful and caring treatment of individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate must have prior investigative experience and maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.

Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as Investigations Chief for the Central Region.

2. Serves as full-line supervisor.

3. Evaluates, recommends, establishes, revises, and implements management procedures for the gathering and compiling of relevant data and facts concerning a full range of assessments.

4. Reviews prepared cases for all administrative and criminal reporting to determine accuracy and appropriateness.

5. Maintains confidential files pertaining to assessments for ensuring the security of all pertinent materials and information gathered in the investigatory process.

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in business or public administration.

2. Requires three (3) years progressively responsible administrative investigatory experience in a public or private organization.

Preferred Qualifications (in priority order)

1. Five (5) years of professional experience interviewing witnesses, collecting, and gathering data involving abuse/neglect and or malfeasance/misfeasance for a public or private organization.

2. Five (5) years of professional experience in a public or private organization maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with professionalism and preparing investigative reports.

3. Two (2) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.

4. Three (3) years of professional experience attending criminal, civil or administrative proceedings and providing expert witness testimony for investigative results and/or assessments.

5. Five (5) years of professional experience communicating in verbal or written form with both internal and external stakeholders on investigative matters.

6. Five (5) years of professional experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.

7. Post-graduate degree, such as a Masters, PhD, JD, etc.

Conditions of Employment

1. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.

2. Requires the ability to travel.
