Investment Quantitative Developer, Quantitative Credit
Quantitative Research and Development (R&D)
Full-Time, Boston MA or NY, NY (Hybrid)
- We are hiring for either our Boston, MA or NY, NY office locations in a Hybrid setting where you will be onsite 2 days per week.
The Opportunity
As a Quantitative Developer, the ideal candidate will have an understanding of option greeks and a wide range of assets including equity and interest rate derivatives. The candidate will work closely with portfolio managers and strategists to research, develop, and evaluate hedging ideas to improve the performance of Variable Annuity hedging program. This role will require a significant amount of programming in Python and SQL.
In addition, you will work with the R&D engineering team to extend and further build out the capabilities of the larger ALM platform. The effort entails updating and migrating the models and analytics to a cloud-based platform in order to maximize efficiency, scale, and performance. To achieve these goals, we are seeking qualified candidates with strong programming skills and trading desk operations experience to join our Quantitative Research and Development (R&D) team.

Our relatively flat and collaborative structure within Investment Management will encourage and provide you with direct access to our senior leadership team.
The Impact
Responsibilities
Develop new tools, analytics, and capabilities
Provide and ensure operations coverage and business continuity at all times in support of the Annuities, Macro Equity, and Foreign Exchange hedging programs
Modify and enhance production processes to improve performance while minimize operational downtime
Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders to provide reporting and analytics
Collaborate with colleagues in other areas of MassMutual to audit and validate models, controls, and processes
Troubleshoot and patch application and platform issues
Provide research and development support as-needed
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree
4+ years of relevant work experience, or advanced/graduate degree with strong internships
Programming proficiency in Python, SQL, and VBA
Strong understanding of currency, equity, and interest rate derivatives and their use in asset liability management
Familiarity with annuity products
Moderate understanding of life insurance products
The Ideal Qualifications
Advanced degree preferably in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, or Engineering
Experience in a trading desk operations setting in Investment Department
CFA/FSA/FRM
Strong communications skills
