IT Communications Specialist

The IT Communications Specialist supports the Office of the CIO, as well as other facets of the IT Department, by managing internal and external communications. The IT Communications Specialist is responsible for drafting communications that will range from event notifications; outage alerts; compliance, security, facilities, or leadership announcements; as well as engagement activities and programs. The scope of this responsibility will be as well defining the scope and usage of the different platforms within the Information Technology group. The IT Communications Specialist performs within the IT / IS framework to assist the business with the creations, management and deployment of internal communications that informs, drives service excellence, and generates value outcomes. The IT Communications Specialist operates and performs their job duties with limited oversight of the:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an IT communication strategy and standard that align the CHS corporate style guide with a high-quality and error-free deliverables, which ensures a communication that informs, drives service excellence, and generates value outcomes
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external players to acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the IT Department's policies, principles and strategies. Keep up-to-date with relevant IT initiatives, outages and events.
  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, logical reasoning, problem solving, verbal, written communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Expected to manage their day to day operations, assist in maturing IT department communication framework and standards through delegation, mentorship and coaching.
  • Consistently demonstrates independent judgment when faced with difficult and complex problems and operates with discretion in matters of significance.

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, a related field or proof of comparable experiance (essential)


Required Experience:


Minimum of 6 years experience in Communications

  • Preferred Experience:
    3+ years of experience creating and executing strategic communication plan development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
  • Motivated, hardworking and self-starter
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Possesses strong organization skills and can prioritize critical tasks
