The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) has an opening for an IS Technical Services Professional position at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG).

The veterans home is a long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. The facility is located off Highway 11 in-between Burlington and Racine and is a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout Southeastern Wisconsin.

The primary responsibility of this position is providing technical support to WDVA and Wisconsin Veterans Home users. This technical support includes hardware problem resolution; application software support; support of Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Health Record software, and other desktop software. Other duties of this position include maintaining hardware inventory, providing training to users, and installation and configuration of computer hardware.

The starting salary is between $28.00 and $31.50 an hour ($58,240 and $65,520 annually). Current state employees pay will be based on the provisions in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. This classification is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 35. A twelve-month probationary period will be required.

Due to the nature of this position, WDVA will conduct criminal background checks prior to an offer of hire.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis (TB) test.

Minimally qualified applicants will have training or experience:

• Providing computer hardware and software technical support (e.g., troubleshoot and resolve issues, answer technical questions, install, and configure hardware and software, etc.); and
• Performing help desk functions (e.g., receive and log support calls, refer requests to proper staff, identify support trends, etc.).

Well qualified candidates will also have experience training users on computer-related topics.
