Summary of Position: Under the immediate supervision of the Property Manager, the Janitor is responsible for performing cleaning services such as dusting, sweeping, using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
Position Type: This position is nonexempt and reports to the Property Manager.
Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required for the position. • Keeping the premises/property clean and in order; employing reasonable diligence in the removal of snow to afford ready access into and past the buildings and offices belonging to the premises.
• Works with maintenance to keep storage areas in a neat, well-stocked, clean, organized manner.
• Putting all refuse into to the proper receptacles provided by the premises for waste removal.
• Sweeping and dusting vacant apartments or flats, common areas (including community rooms, etc).
• Keeping the plumbing fixtures clean and washing windows as necessary.
• Upholds the mission and values of VOA of IL at all times.

Other Duties:
As assigned by the Property Manager.
Work Environment:
Generally, this position operates in a housing property. Though the hours are typically 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Hours might change depending on needs.

Qualifications:
Ability to successfully handle multiple priorities and prioritize a work schedule. Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of personnel.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required. Qualified individuals must have at least two years’ janitorial experience.
