JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

Assist individuals in obtaining and keeping competitive employment opportunities in the community using customized employment strategies.

Essential:

· Provide education and technical assistance to prospective employers on the benefits of employing workers with disabilities, the ADA, and any financial assistance available to the employer.

· Analyze job tasks, break down into constituent parts and utilize optimal job training to ensure mastery. Negotiate work modifications and provide ongoing individual support and encouragement to individuals.

· Use creative approaches to help the people supported achieve successful outcomes. Observe the work site culture and assist the worker in building a social bond with supervisors and coworkers that result in “natural supports”.

· Provide case management of those assigned. Communicate verbally and in writing, as necessary, with program managers, job developers, support staff, employers, funding sources and other advocates to assure a clear understanding of each person's progress and need for continued support.

· Ensure health and safety of assigned workers.

· Ensure all required documentation is complete, timely, accurate and representative of a professional organization. Follow licensing regulations, agency policies and practices and assure protection of individual rights and safety.

· In conjunction with the Work Futures team, identify and maximize utilization of all available funding sources to ensure sustainability of the Work Futures Program. Likewise, use Exceed's resources effectively and efficiently.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the Work Futures Program Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School Diploma/GED or two years experience in a vocationally-oriented rehabilitation agency training adults with disabilities. Special emphasis on vocational skills training preferred.

· Travel from site to site as well as to and from Exceed, VR and DD offices and other off-site locations is required.

· Must have a vehicle available for work and provide proof of insurance. Must have valid Oregon/Washington driver’s license, safe driving record, proof of auto insurance at minimum limits established by Exceed and be approved by Exceed’s insurance carrier.

· Must be willing to work flexible hours if needed to assist workers with diverse abilities integrate into a new work environment.

· Must be able to assist in lifting, repositioning, or transferring of workers using wheelchairs. Must occasionally lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Frequent bending and stooping.

· Must be willing to undergo a background check by Oregon DHS.

· Must be willing to undergo a drug screen.
