Job description
There are 3 main objectives that the AmeriCorps member would help with based on their capacity and experience. They would essentially be a research assistant under the direction of program leadership to 1. Develop a feasibility study on starting a participatory urban research center in KCKS including a rationale, explanation of participatory research models, cost estimates, a general timeline, and identify potential funding sources for participatory research. This feasibility study would be presented to stakeholders to determine if it is worth pursuing for our organization. 2. Provide research that would help us develop sustainable funding for our CHW program, to identify sustainable funding models for CHW programs, assemble research on the benefits of Community Health Workers. 3. Identify and summarize relevant Public Health bills up for consideration at the state and local levels to inform our organization’s policy agenda and community education.
Member Duties : Activities AmeriCorps member will complete are (additional activities assigned will require review and approval by WYCO Public Health AmeriCorps Program Director): • Read and write summaries of research • Outline and draft documents based on the research • Develop PowerPoint presentations of findings • Serve under the direction of leadership to conduct a feasibility study for an urban research center. Will involve finding information from similar organizations, estimating costs, using participatory research literature to create simple explanatory documents to present to funders/partners/board members. • Assist program leadership to assemble documents and research showing the benefits of CHWs Creating simple documents that explain the value of CHWs, with cost breakdowns to contract out CHWs to clinics and other nonprofits. • Complete required trainings including AmeriCorps Kansas Training
