Job description
Kirk of Kildaire works with direct food security, increasing partnerships, and increasing workforce development. The organization provides food through the county HUB and as Summer Food Service Program Sponsors (summer meals). Kirk of Kildaire provides workforce development through GED/ESL programs for adults, parenting education, and tutoring/mentoring for children and youth. The VISTA will work with the Western Regional Food Security Action group and Kirk of Kildaire's food hubs toincrease its capacity for food security. The member will work on the logistics of partnerships with businesses and other non-profits that will position Kirk of Kildaire to continue serving its target beneficiaries and neighbors. The member will also coordinate a variety of workforce development efforts (tutoring, summer program, GED, etc.) that will lead to greater food security. This assignment has two main objectives: 1. Promote the Western Regional Food Security Action group and Kirk of Kildaire’s food hubs to improve their capacity to handle food security activities. 2. Coordinate Kirk of Kildaire’s workforce development efforts (tutoring, mentoring, Summer Programs, GED, etc) that will lead to greater food security.
Member Duties : * Propose a plan to establish new partnerships with businesses and other non-profits to improve Kirk of Kildaire’s capacity to continue serving its target population. * Develop a strategy for outreach and recruitment of new volunteers. * Develop a communication strategy for informing our target population of other community resources. * Engage in workforce development activities to strengthen the food security of the participants and community. * Asses and propose approaches to address obstacles to enrollment (such as transportation, childcare, literacy, etc.) * Develop an evaluation methodology to improve workforce development programs.
