SCASD Food Services has openings for "floating" staff members. Floaters are assigned work shifts on all scheduled school days. Shifts are 3 1/2 to 4 3/4 hours per day between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and can be in any of the district's buildings. The starting rate of pay is $15.95 per hour.Floaters are typically able to bid on jobs to work in a single kitchen within the first 6 months of employment.
Ideal candidates are able to, at a minimum, read and write English, do simple arithmetic, and follow oral and written instructions. They must have a general understanding and appreciation for food safety and must be customer service oriented. Work in the school kitchens is fast paced and physical. The job requires employees to be standing or walking the entire work shift. Work requires twisting, pushing, and pulling, with regular lifting of 10-20 lbs. and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
