Summary: We are seeking a skilled Lab Analyst. As a Lab Analyst, you will be responsible for various tasks related to the examination and interpretation of metallurgical samples. This includes coordinating external laboratory testing, reviewing test results, maintaining lab supplies, conducting sample analysis, and performing equipment maintenance. Additionally, you will be involved in customer rejections and vendor claim processing.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive, prepare, examine, document, and interpret metallurgical samples.
  • Coordinate external laboratory testing as needed.
  • Review examination and test results and prepare appropriate reports.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of consumable lab materials and order replacements when necessary.
  • Collect and prepare steel samples and update vendor reports for supplier quality meetings.
  • Evaluate customer/mill claims and analyze samples from customer rejections.
  • Perform analysis of customer rejections to determine corrective actions.
  • Evaluate production reject samples for potential reclassification and process vendor claims.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of lab equipment within the assigned capabilities.
  • Operate equipment such as band saws, belt grinders, abrasive saws, surface grinding equipment, and polishing equipment to prepare metallographic lab samples.
  • Perform applied research and development work as directed, including data gathering and analysis.
  • Record test data and apply statistical techniques.
  • Operate and maintain metallurgical microscope and digital photographic equipment to document, annotate, and analyze digital images.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a metallurgical laboratory or related field.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
