LEAD FABRICATOR

Job title: Lead Fabricator
Shift: 1 st (Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm)
Location: Sandusky
Wage: $30 an hour
Direct Hire or Contract to Hire position


Responsibilities Include:

• Provide feedback regarding lead times on the traveler
• Work closely with the Estimator and customers from start to finish on each project
• Draw the parts required for the weldment or fabrication if not already provided by the customer using SolidWorks preferably or AutoCAD.

• Lead a small team of machine operators to schedule parts for fabrication operations including providing a cut list to the Saw Operator and making sure the Press Brake operator knows and understand the forming requirements

• Coordinate with the Laser/Plasma Programmer to have parts nested and scheduled to be cut. Check nest sheets for correct quantities, material thickness, and grain direction
• Assign work to Welders/Fabricators and help them as required including: provide travelers and drawings; answer questions and give advice and direction as needed; oversee quality and on time completion of their portion of the work
• Coordinate with another Lead Fabricator, Shop Foreman, and/or Estimator to check quality including: weld quality and completion as shown on customer drawings and dimensional checks
• Coordinate with the Painter to get weldments, fabrications, and assemblies painted
• Ensure that parts are correctly labeled
• Coordinate with the Shipping Department to have weldments, fabrications, and assemblies, shipped
• Forklift experience a plus
