Job description
The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist is responsible for leading the clinical team in conjunction with the Director of Residential Services and Clinical Residential Supervisor. The Lead Clinical Therapist (LCT) is responsible for the following duties:
- Case consultation with other Residential CT (regarding IT, FT, GT, case management and other concerns and or related to milieu),
- Training and onboarding new Residential CTs with DRS,
- Attending and coordinating the clinical meeting and identifying the training needs,
- Auditing residential clinical documented weekly, and other audits as needed.
- Working collaboratively with CTs and TPSs for program development.
- Serving as Sanctuary ambassador for Residential CT,
- Teaching Sanctuary skills and ensuring Sanctuary is used in everyday practices,
- Formulating and implementing appropriate treatment strategies for students and their families on their assigned caseload and for timely and satisfactory documentation of all treatment efforts,
- Monitoring the implementation of the residential behavior management system,
- Adhering to standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, The Joint Commission and OCS licensing,
- Abiding by all safety rules and regulations of the facility,
- Carrying out all responsibilities according to AK Child & Family mission, policies, and philosophy of care,
- Assumes additional duties as assigned,
The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist also provides comprehensive clinical and case management services to students and their families for a case load. This includes:
- The provision of individual, family, and group therapies,
- Crisis intervention,
- Participating in the clinical on-call rotation as needed,
- Providing advocacy, assessment, planning, and discharge planning,
- Participating in Interdisciplinary teamwork,
- Serving as a Community liaison,
- All positions at AK Child & Family may have responsibilities altered during the course of employment due to agency imperatives.

PAY:
- Salary DOE
- Bonus in the amount of 1.5% of annual salary after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period and another at the 1-year anniversary.
- Annual raises are based on the annual budget and not guaranteed each year.

Supervision and Coordination of Services:
SUPERVISION AND COORDINATION OF SERVICES
- The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist:
- Reports to the Director of Residential Services,
- Collaborates with all other disciplines through interdisciplinary teamwork and assigned committee responsibilities,
- Serves as a member of the clinical services department and coordinates clinical services with all members of the treatment team,
- Adheres to the ethics of the professional body of which they are Lead,
- Collaborates and coordinates services with all staff via established committees and performance improvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have the ability to relate to and experience in working with emotionally disturbed children/adolescents and their families in a psychiatric or residential setting.
- Knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and assessment, child/adolescent development, family systems therapy, separation and loss, physical/sexual abuse, trauma, individual and group therapies is essential,
- Demonstrated psycho-social assessment, treatment planning, advocacy skills and case management skills,
- Excellent written (English), interpersonal and oral communication skills (English),
- Possesses creativity/flexibility to ensure delivery of services,
- Function on an interdisciplinary treatment team are essential components of the position,
- Demonstrates an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and/or special needs population,
- Requires a valid driver’s license and ability to travel among campuses and within the community,
Education and experience:
- Holds at least a Master's degree in psychology, counseling, or social work from an accredited school,
- Has two years post-graduate experience working with emotionally disturbed children/adolescents and their families is preferred,
- Previous work in a residential setting preferred, pending specific clinical assignment,
Physical Demands:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist must be able to drive a personal and/or AK Child & Family vehicle to all AK Child & Family campuses, transport students, and meet with families both on and off campuses.
- He/She must be able to travel to any residential unit in a timely manner for assessment of restraint or protective seclusion per AK Child & Family policy.
- He/She must produce in a timely manner, assessments and other documentation required by AK Child & Family, insurance and referral sources.
- The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist must be able to produce legible student records and prepare reports using a computer.
- He/She must be able to meet with DJJ, OCS, insurance, and other mental health personnel related to students and their families as well as for networking and professional growth in person and via telephone.
- The Lead Residential Clinical Therapist must attend and participate in residential and agency meetings on any AK Child & Family campus.
