Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY:
Supervises a shift or special care team of respiratory therapists. Performs all modalities of respiratory care in compliance with physician orders. Assists the Director with special projects.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited Respiratory Program for and eligibility through the N.B.R.C. via one of the following:
  • Certification program either through a traditional or non-traditional program.
  • Experience: at least one year clinical experience in all modes of respiratory care (credit for course work in school allowed).
  • Currently licensed by the state of Texas
  • BLS upon hire and keep current thereafter
  • Must be licensed by the State of Texas to perform Respiratory Care under the guidelines of the

Respiratory care Practitioners Act and holds a temporary permit until such permanent (RCP) license is

obtained.

  • Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program) – please check all that apply:

BCLS/CPR

Must be current upon hire and thereafter

ACLS


If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;

nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;

or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times


PALS
or
ENPC

If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire;
nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

NRP

If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire, nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

TNCC

If required in unit, must have and maintain certification within eighteen months after hire;
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

STABLE

If required in unit, must obtain within 12 months of hire,
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

CPI

If required in unit, nurse with a year or less of experience - obtain within 12 months of hire; nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire;
or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times

SAMA

If required in unit, - obtain within 30 days of hire
