Leave and Workers Compensation Administrator
Temporary 3 Months
Location: Remote in California to support Corona Facility
Position Purpose
This role is responsible for the administration of Workers Compensation, Leaves of Absence, and paid time off programs for the Distribution Center located in Corona, CA. The role will work in close partnership with the HR Manager, employees and third party vendors to provide customer focused operational and administrative support. Assists in the implementation and process execution of policies as it relates to leave and workers compensation compliance. Creates a positive and supportive learning environment and embraces open collaboration, solicits feedback from others, and escalates issues to the HR Manager as appropriate.
Essential Functions
- Provide day-to-day administration for all workers' compensation claims by being the primary contact between injured employees, managers, third-party claims representatives and broker. Aggressively manages claims to closure and in cases with higher reserve thresholds, escalate to HR Manager for handling.
- Collaborate with workers compensation vendor, attorneys, and adjustors to investigate and resolve claims. Coordinate with HRGs on approvals for settlement offers. Gather relevant data as requested for investigations.
- Determine leave eligibility, responding to questions and resolving leaves of absence matters.
- Manage LOA processes to ensure appropriate documentation, follow through, and return to work.
- Process and Review medical certifications supplied by healthcare providers for appropriate leave application.
- Communicate approvals, denials, leave extensions, re-certifications, return to work plans and other relevant information regarding the leave to employee, HRG and Management as appropriate.
- Support employee understanding of LOA, and WC programs - including CA leaves.
- Track leaves and concurrent leaves, in accordance with laws, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure benefits for employees on LOA are appropriately transitioned, process enrollments/terminations, conduct premium and enrollment audits, and respond to employee queries.
- Ensure employee data is updated timely.
- Responsible for metrics related to areas of responsibility and may be asked to produce ad-hoc reports as needed.
- Fosters collaborative, team-oriented relationships.
- May be assigned other duties and projects based on business need. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of Federal and State workers compensation and leave laws.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, implementation and follow through are critical for success in this position.
- Great time management skills. Ability to review priorities as other demands come into play on a daily basis.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook.)
- Knowledge of HR processes and data management.
- Must have strong consultation, communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Excellent attendance record.
Experience
- 1 + years of customer service or sales experience
- Leave administration work experience desired
- Demonstrated California compliance knowledge
- 1 year of Human Resource experience desired
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time without limitations
- Ability to move about, sit, bend, and squat
- Ability to communication verbally and in writing and be on camera in virtual meetings
