JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, performs clerical, technical, or public service duties utilizing automated library systems and requiring an understanding of standard library practices and procedures within a specific functional area. Responds to and resolves common inquiries and problems. Responsible for routine/moderate tasks within a particular functional area requiring knowledge of library practices and procedures, facilities with automated library systems, and an ability to identify and resolve non-routine problems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school graduate and one year of library experience required. Exposure to automated library systems preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred. REPORTS TO: Professional Librarian

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Perform a variety of technical and specialized library assignments involved in the investigation, organization and dissemination of all types of library materials such as books, reports, periodicals, abstracts, indexes, manuscripts, and software. 2. Catalog various library materials; enter duplicates and added volumes in the on-line Public Catalog; coordinate various changes in records and outlying libraries. 3. Provide assistance and direction for library patrons in locating needed library materials; perform searches for various library materials; handle complaints and recommend procedures to ensure smooth functioning of the various library systems. 4. Prepare lending and document delivery articles and use various ways to deliver them such as Odyssey email (PDF), Web (PDF), fax, and email. Monitor incoming email for received articles and queries from patrons and other libraries. Assist with borrowing: assists with processing requests, receiving books and articles and returning book loans. 5. Produce invoices for interlibrary loan and document delivery services. Proof invoices and mark them as paid checks, money orders and credit cards as received. Send reports to the Controller?s Office for checks and money orders that are received for services rendered each month. 6. Upload EFTS and IFM transactions monthly and make corrections to keep the accounts accurate. Manually upload EFTS that are missing during normal billing process. Compiles statistics on billing totals and EFTS/IFM charges at the end of each month. 7. Check library materials in and out using ALMA system; place materials on carts for shelving; when item(s) is returned, check in and re-shelve. 8. Answer patron questions; answer telephone; page patrons within the library; assist with LibChat; Schedule library classrooms, small group instruction and study rooms for patrons. 9. Assist patrons in person, by telephone, or email; locate information in reference books, reserve books, online databases, and the Internet; shelve reference and reserve collection materials; laminate materials for patrons; assist patrons with faxing and scanning. 10. Maintain statistical data and prepare reports reflecting library use 11. Assist patrons with Pharos print services system; Assist students with laptop printing issues. Load paper in library printers; troubleshoot Pharos issues to ensure patrons can print efficiently. 12. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
