The
Licensed Practical Nurse, Procedure Room will work
Full Time, Days and demonstrates basic knowledge of all surgical/clinical procedures.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse acts as support to Surgeons consistently and accurately.
- Utilizes knowledge of technical and nursing responsibilities.
- Exhibits behaviors, attitude and competencies commensurate with nursing practice standards and the LPN nurse practice act.
- Accepts responsibility for own nursing practice.
- Recognizes legal implications of own actions, based on periodic review by supervisor.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care individualized to the patient's needs.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse collects, records, evaluates relevant patient health data accurately, with no more than 3-5 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation and co-worker feedback.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse evaluates health data to identify patient problems, with no more than 2-3 exceptions, as measured by random supervisory chart review and/or direct supervisory observation.
- The Licensed Practical Nurse advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.
- Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity, 100% of the time, as measured by no significant, substantiated patient or peer complaints received by the manager/supervisor.
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
- Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy by providing documented evidence of completion to supervisor.

Education/Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program is required.
Experience:
- 1 year of work experience as an LPN or a new LPN with extensive experience as a tech in a procedure room or operating room.
Licensure/Certificates:
- Current NYS licensures as a LPN or valid interim permit is required.
- Current BLS certification is required within 6 month from date of hire.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in required nursing skills relevant to area of practice.
- Demonstrates consistent excellence in clinical practice.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to lead approved work unit initiatives.
Physical Requirements:
- Walking, standing, squatting and kneeling required throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift and position patients required.
- Must be able to identify and differentiate colors.
- Category I risk exposure as defined by OSHA.
- Wearing a lead vest for extended periods of time may be required throughout the shift.
