Position Summary:
The Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program Nurse has a leading role on the interdisciplinary treatment team in the provision of medical and clinical services and assists in the dispensing of medication to patients with opioid use disorder.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Dispense and administer prescribed medication, maintain accountability, adequate record keeping, and documentation.
- Assessment of patients including taking vital signs, observing patients in treatment to identify progress along with proper documentation.
- Responsible for managing assigned patient caseload and providing regular assessments.
- Assist the nursing supervisor, as needed, including maintenance of equipment, methadone deliveries, keeping dispensing records, addressing nursing staff coverage.
- Provide appropriate nursing services utilizing telehealth and/or in person, as indicated.
- Complete all documentation in an electronic health record within program deadlines.
- Assist in coordination of medication deliveries for appropriate patients.
- Assist in dose observations via telehealth for patients receiving medication delivery.
- Carries out MD/PA/NP orders, and assists during crisis, emergencies, and other procedures.
- Participates in clinic and interdisciplinary team meetings, as needed.
- Knowledgeable of all state and federal regulations and accreditation standards as well as program policies and procedures and the role of a nurse in its operations, including confidentiality, 42CFR and HIPAA requirements.
- Works to meet and then maintain productivity goals.
- Promotes a positive, professional clinic atmosphere.
- Keep Supervisor and Director informed of progress and problems.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Inter Relationships:
- Interact with all levels of personnel within the organization and maintains external business relationships within the social services community.
- Listens, understands, and appreciates the worth/value of all clients.
- Establishes rapport and professional trust based relationships with clients and counselors.
- Establishes working relationships with other staff members, and works as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
- License to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
- At least 2 years-experience in a substance abuse services environment, preferred but not required.
- Demonstrates clinical competence and leadership traits (e.g. decision-making ability, skills in problem solving and communication, prioritizing and team building).
