JOB SUMMARY:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides comprehensive nursing care to surgery center patients in the preoperative unit under the direction of the Director of Nursing who is the liaison for nursing personnel. The LVN will assist in specific duties such as starting IVs and recording patient history to prepare the patient for surgery under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. LVN will assist the RN in the postoperative area as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Current California Licensed Vocational Nurse license with completion of IV therapy course.

2. 2 years of acute care with operating room experience desired.

3. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required and maintained.

4. Six months experience in the operating room setting desired.

5. Ability to reach, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.

6. Must be able to put into practice service excellence skills with patients, families and co-workers.
