Summary/Objective:
Bigge is looking for someone with a background in oversize permits and extensive knowledge of logistics with the transportation of heavy equipment and trucking. We are searching for qualified and ambitious individuals to organize the daily dispatch of equipment for the branch safely and promptly and assist with both crews and sales representatives as necessary. This position is directly involved in identifying customer needs, coordinating activities of delivery drivers, maintaining competitive data, inventory control, and daily business reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of planning, scheduling, job operations, communication, and billing for a large number of crane moves every week
- Maintains dispatch and bidding systems will every detail of potential and actual jobs, so there’s accurate reporting and planning for future jobs.
- Ensures that permits are current and maintained by coordinating field labor and equipment.
- Ensures that vehicles and equipment are in good working order and coordinates their dispersal to job sites as required.
- Coordinates and prioritizes mechanical repairs with shop personnel.
- Schedules drivers and organizes the daily dispatch of all equipment for the branch.
- Determines the most effective mode and routing of equipment into company facilities and to the customer. Use routing tools to ensure the movement of equipment adheres to DOT and state and federal law.
- Relays work orders, messages, and information to and from drivers, supervisors, and customers.
- Perform record keeping on all job orders, trucks, trailers, and branch equipment.
- Reviews and approves workers’ timecards.
- Prepares daily schedule.
- Completes required reports and forms, e.g., bare rentals, daily utilization forms, etc.
- Informs sponsors/estimators of any anticipated issues
- Reviews and approve payments for sub-haulers.
- Assist accounts payables with questions on POs, job costs, etc.
Educational Requirements / Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in the trucking/heavy hauling industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of cranes, riggings, and heavy equipment preferred.
- Work well under pressure; meet multiple deadlines and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Valid, current driver’s license.
- Scheduling experience
- The ability to work well with little supervision
