We currently have an exciting opportunity in Subcontracts department. This position specifically is located in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Logistics Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

This position is responsible for the coordination and tracking of rented and leased equipment and tooling obtained to support multiple ongoing ship availabilities. This position manages and controls logistics support processes and procedures in support of NASSCO’s safety, quality, schedule, cost and continuous improvement goals.

POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training)

Typically has a BA/BS plus 2 years in a related field or AA/AS plus 4 years directly related experience or 5 6 plus years directly related logistics experience.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to communicate instructions and definitions. Must have knowledge of processes, and equipment and tooling used by trades and shops. Must be organized and use time wisely. Customer-service driven. Effective communication and team-building skills. Proven ability in people environment. Must be punctual and reliable, with a proven attendance record. Proficient in Microsoft products.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Assigned to the Business Operations Subcontracts Group. Interfaces with the Production Department and Programs Department. Supports Program and Production Management by monitoring and managing logistics operations. Develops and maintains communication at all levels internal to NASSCO to improve overall business processes with emphasis on logistics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinates with the Program and Production Teams during the execution phase to ensure the control and cost effective management of rented and leased equipment and tooling obtained to support multiple ongoing ship availabilities.
Coordinates with the Program and Production Teams and Subcontracts Group for the delivery and inspection of equipment and tooling.
Coordinates the mobilization / demobilization process of equipment and tooling at multiple on-site and off-site locations for efficient execution of production activities.
Arranges for the return of rented and leased equipment and tooling from the job site and coordinates with the Subcontracts Group for end of rental and lease verification process
Reports ongoing status of rented and leased equipment and tooling to the Subcontracts Manager.
Monitors processes for continuous improvement and ensures the full support of rental and lease needs.
Advises on estimate and costing data.
Performs all job functions in accordance with NASSCO’s Mission, Vision, Values and Principles.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountable to the Subcontracts Manager for the efficient execution of all job duties.

UNIQUE/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Must be willing to travel and qualify to operate a company vehicle. Must be a U.S. citizen and qualify for a CAC or RapidGate badge. Must have reliable record of attendance and punctuality and be available for overtime as required. Must be able to physically transit all areas of the facility and the drydock. Must be able to spend up to 70% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or controls, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be familiar with working in a naval-ship-work-environment and be able to go aboard marine vessels and the drydock, and wear personal protective equipment. These areas can be dirty, dusty, hot or cold, and noisy.
