Position Summary
-
Operates all equipment in accordance with safe work practices. Has working knowledge of all equipment used in pickup and delivery of goods to dock and other locations.

Good working knowledge of metropolitan Chicago and surrounding areas to ensure safe and timely movements between locations.

Loads and unloads truck, with or without assistance, using special care to prevent damage to goods, property, or self.

Makes pickups and deliveries as scheduled by management and immediately reports any conditions which prevent maintaining the schedule as given.

Completes driver logs, truck inspections or incident reports as necessary.

Responsible for cleanliness of both cargo and cab area of Museum Shop truck as well as general maintenance that can be performed on the premises.

Informs the Manager of Distribution Operations of any scheduled maintenance that needs to be done on any of the equipment used in the performance of job duties.

Responsible for security of goods in transit between warehouse, satellite stores, and other destinations. Observes proper precautions to ensure safe movement of goods between locations.

Assists warehouse and shop as directed by security and museum shop warehouse management.

Reports any accidents or citations promptly to the Manager of Distribution Operations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Must have a current CDL license at all times.

Successful completion of safety training virtually or in person, including, but not limited to: Asbestos Awareness, Hazard Communications, forklift Training, Fire Safety/Extinguisher Use, Personal Protective Equipment, Back Injury Prevention, and Hearing Conservation.

Must have general knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in shipping and receiving.

Ability to follow detailed instructions, and communicate verbally and in writing.

Regular lifting and moving 80lbs without assistance.

Long periods walking, squatting, and kneeling.
-
Stretching and reaching overhead and below the waist.
-
Using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required including, but not limited to, respirators, protective footwear and eyewear.
