Purpose
Provides professional nursing services to residents in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines to foster the highest degree of quality care.
This position is Full Time (40 hrs. per week) from 4pm to 12am with flexibility to work any day of the week including weekends.




Essential Functions
  • Performs the following functions related to working with Physicians:
    • Administers medications ordered by physician, in accordance with Standards of Practice for Medication Administration and Arcadia Community Services’ (ACS) Policies and Procedures;
    • Processes, reviews and implements physicians’ orders;
    • Informs physicians of changes in residents’ or clients’ conditions;
    • Orders diets specified by physician;
    • Orders/reorders medications to assure resident compliance with physicians’ orders (ARR/15C);
    • Maintains security of medication cart, medication room and narcotics box;
    • Prepares necessary forms to go with residents to physician office visits (ARR/15C).
  • Administers and adheres to established Nursing Standards or Practice when providing nursing
services and treatment.
  • Assists with admissions, transfers and discharges of residents/clients.
  • Monitors and documents relevant information in residents’/clients’ charts and required reports completely, timely and accurately in accordance with ACS Policies and Procedures.
  • Communicates with physicians, family members, internal staff and other healthcare providers on
changes and updates in residents’/clients’ conditions in accordance with ACS Policies and Procedures.
  • Assures effective performance of CNAs.
  • Monitors proper operation of medical devices and equipment.
  • Performs the necessary duties for emergency drills as outlined in Disaster Response Playbook.
  • Exercises good decision-making skills and safety judgment in uncertain conditions or situations.
  • Writes incident reports as needed in accordance with ACS policies and procedures.
  • Gives and receives accurate, timely shift reports.
  • Makes an effort to cover unscheduled shifts when the need arises and assists in finding
replacements for nurses who call in sick (ARR/15C).
  • Ensures departmental compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Participates in orientation and training of new employees.
  • Respects and observes residents’ rights, privacy and confidentiality.
  • Works in conjunction and harmony with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality care to residents/clients.
  • Keeps the Director of Nursing, Nursing Home Administrator and Charge Nurse (ARR/15C) or Program Director (CUC) informed of resident/client, staff or operational concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned by ACS and its family of companies.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises department employees in the delivery of quality care in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Education and/or Experience
Graduate of a state approved school of nursing. Related work experience preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Current State of Hawaii Licensed Practical Nurse license and Current First Aid / CPR certification.

  • Proficiency in the use of nursing equipment (i.e. Glucometer, BP equipment, Oxygen, Suction Machines, Nebulizer, Defibrillator, etc.).

  • Courteously and professionally works with residents, staff, families, and vendors to resolve problems.
  • Analyzes problems and develops strategies for resolution.
Computer Skills
Understands the basics of working with a computer. Comfortable with learning computer skills and software applications. Proficiency in using a computer including the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook and Word) and other applicable software applications

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; push and pull. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing their essential functions, employees are occasionally exposed to the following conditions:

  • Air conditioned office environment;
