Job Description
The Machining Supervisor oversees the setup and operations of the equipment in the machining area – manual, saw, and CNC machines. This position will develop processes to increase efficiency and ensure that finished products meet all specifications. The Machining Supervisor will be responsible for troubleshooting and setting up repairs for the machinery as need. The candidate must be able to set up and run any of the machines if an employee in the machining area is absent or has to step away. This position would report to the Shop Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities - Machining Lead
  • Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of direct reports
  • Evaluate and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and techniques
  • Identify staff development and training needs and ensure training is scheduled and attended
  • Maintain records and prepare reports as needed
  • Read blueprints/sketches in order to plan material, equipment, and labor needs
  • Oversee quality control functions
  • Operates machines and other equipment when employee calls off, to diagnose malfunctions, and test repaired equipment
  • Complete near miss, accident, incident and injury reports
  • Direct machine operators and support personnel in compliance with daily work schedules
  • Ensure all direct reports remain in compliance with all current safety regulations
  • Collaborate with other departments including purchasing, engineering, planning, and scheduling
  • Communicate issues/delays as it relates to the weekly back log to ensure proper production flow
  • Conduct performance reviews, approve PTO requests, track call offs
  • Assist in maintaining the highest quality of product provided by Industrial Profile Systems
  • Perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed.
Desired Skills & Experience - Machining Lead
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of machining experience including experience with CNCs, manuals, and saws
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to program HAAS vertical mills is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the machinist trade required
  • Knowledge of the machining qualities, properties, and uses of aluminum
  • Experience with conducting training preferred
  • Ability to operate machine tools, read precision measuring devices, apply shop mathematics to practical problems, read sketches, specs, and blueprints
  • Confident personality with a can do attitude is a must; creative solution finder
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with a sense of urgency
  • Well organized with an aptitude for details
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Have the ability to multi-task and produce quality results under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV ERP is a plus, but not required
