The Maintenance & Construction Manager will be a critical part of the Maintenance and Facilities Team, reporting to the Director of Field Projects. You will be a key partner to the GM and VP of Retail Operations. In this role you will be responsible monitoring and following up on all maintenance and repair issues and other projects associated with facility maintenance at our C-Store/Food Service sites. The role provides environmental compliance/emergency response training to our retail petroleum (gas stations) employees for their assigned area. They are responsible for organizing, implementing, and managing vendors related to these trades to ensure operational efficiencies.

The Types of “Energy” You Bring

  • You have 5 years’ experience working in the facilities maintenance field
  • You have 5 years’ experience in the petroleum industry including UST system knowledge and associated compliance responsibilities
  • You manage and take ownership of projects with limited supervision
  • You consistently meet deadlines and are results-oriented
  • You are highly organized, possess proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • You have excellent planning and organization skills
  • You are a strong communicator to all partners

“Gauges” of Responsibility

  • Communicate weekly or often as needed with the VP of Retail Operations and their supervisor on issues/concerns effecting the maintenance and environmental operations of the business
  • Prepare detailed reports for store operations to track, update, and inform regarding repairs, maintenance of our facilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors
  • Create budgets, schedules, and projects for facility maintenance
  • Work with the facility maintenance team to determine tasks to assume
  • Establish, maintain, and execute the comprehensive landscaping programs
  • Develop and post appropriate maintenance performance metrics and maintain or improve performance within approved limits
  • Assist in day-to-day maintenance tasks
  • Ensure contractor and vendors meet all OSHA and other regulatory requirements related to maintenance
  • Interact with Environmental department on environmental compliance training schedule
  • Provide remediation and project management oversight and management during facility upgrade work
  • Interact with environmental regulators
  • Assist with acquisition projects
  • Prepare and manage annual budget
  • Actively find departmental cost saving opportunities
  • Other project management duties as assigned
  • Required to be on-call and manage on a 24/7 basis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent knowledge preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in petroleum and convenience store industry
  • Hard-working, self-motivated individuals
  • Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player
  • Strong with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work productively under time constraints with a sense of urgency
  • Understanding of the proper use of work orders, priorities, and schedules
  • Valid Driver’s License

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Ability to work outside in varied weather and seasons
