About You
As a person, you’re a balanced thinker, a motivated fixer – someone who is always taking initiative to solve problems, make things better and respectfully engage others along the journey with you. As a mechanic, you have a strong technical track record, work best under pressure and deliver high value to your team by owning issues through resolution, exercising strong situational judgment and favoring a proactive vs. reactive approach to equipment maintenance. - Are 18 years or older and are authorized to work in the United States
- Have a High School Diploma/GED or equivalent Military education/training
- Have a 2-year related technical degree preferred and a minimum of 5 years work experience in a related manufacturing field, including experience with high-speed manufacturing and converting equipment
- Can read and write basic English
- Have basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office)
- Are able to work schedule of 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime
- Can physically work on elevated work platforms, catwalks, scaffolding, and enter confined spaces
- Have the ability to perform inspections, repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical drive systems, pumps, etc.
- Have basic machinist skills
- Have knowledge of lubrication best practices
- Can pass a pre-employment assessment and a pre-employment drug + background screening
Responsibilities:
Ability to perform routine service, setup, adjustment and repairs of paper manufacturing and converting equipment (e.g. pumps, gear reducers, high speed winders, orbital saws, wrappers, packaging and conveying equipment)
Perform Predictive & Preventative tasks associated on heavy industrial manufacturing equipment
Identify and correct defects in equipment during preventative maintenance inspections
Installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of typical ball & roller bearings
Perform horizontal laser equipment alignment tasks
Perform basic pipe fitting and welding
Proficient in rigging/lifting fundamentals required for large equipment replacements
Proficient at using hand tools, portable electric tools & maintenance shop equipment
Basic machinist tasks (e.g. cut and broach keyways on drive line components, minor parts modifications, etc.
Rebuild spare equipment and components
Precision measurements of bearing fits and mounting tolerances
Identify, plan, execute mechanical maintenance tasks
Work within an operations driven team environment to resolve issues and improve performance
