AdvanSix, Inc located in Chesterfield, Virginia has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Planner. This position will be planning and scheduling all maintenance activities for the Chesterfield facility. This is a fast-paced maintenance department and a very dynamic working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create work orders from notifications in SAP for all work in your designated areas of the plant
  • Review and confirm proper notification priorities in SAP, working with Maintenance Coordinators
  • Develop detailed job task lists and cost/time estimates for work orders
  • Plan routine, PM, and small capital work orders
  • Utilize T-7 scheduling methodology in coordination with input from area sub-teams to develop a seven-week look ahead schedule and detailed weekly work schedule
  • Procure tools, materials, equipment, and outside services as required for all Maintenance work in your areas; includes entering purchase requisitions for these items in SAP
  • Walk down all maintenance work orders two weeks prior to execution with the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all parts, shared services, and safety issues have been addressed prior to scheduling the work
  • Maintain planned backlog of work – includes updating job plans and closing completed work orders
  • Audit and update shop papers and work instructions for planned and scheduled jobs
  • Perform kitting for planned work
  • Kit backlog maintenance work for utilization as fill-in work
  • Participate in Maintenance Sub-Team meetings, working with other planners, Maintenance Coordinators, Supervisors, Unit Leaders, Execution Leader, and Engineers to prioritize work, prepare schedules, and manage costs
  • Participate in daily update meeting to ensure communication with the Operations and Maintenance on daily activities, the next day's activities, and the status of any new Priority 1 and 2 notifications
  • Track schedule efficiency, schedule attainment, and schedule loading through the utilization of the schedule compliance report in SAP
  • Understand and explain variances between forecast and actual costs
  • Provide oversight of contractors and vendors working in assigned areas
  • Manage contractor and vendor documentation, invoices, and goods receipts
  • Maintain accurate and updated Bills of Material (BOM) and equipment records in SAP and hard-copy files
  • Ensure critical spare parts are ordered and available for all planned work
  • Identify and request capital projects to replace spare parts as needed
  • Work with Reliability Engineers to support reliability-based maintenance programs to minimize machine downtime
  • Provide relief planner coverage for vacations and training in other areas of the plant
  • Provide relief supervisor coverage for vacations, training, outages, and as requested by management
  • Facilitate positive change in the Maintenance organization by proactively driving department initiatives such as SAP enhancements, Planning and Scheduling improvements, Maintenance cost and plant downtime reduction projects, etc.
  • Perform other assigned duties as requested to support Maintenance and plant operations
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience working with SAP or maintenance work order processing system
Additional Qualifications:
  • BS or AS degree in Engineering Technology or a Journeyman Craftsman Certification (such as machinist, pipefitter, welder, electrician) preferred
  • 5 years of experience in maintenance planning in a chemical industrial or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate safety into foundations of work activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization
  • Demonstrated ability to use influencing skills to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Able to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledgeable in repair techniques for a broad application of electrical and instrumentation equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of maintenance work processes
  • Ability to drive improvement in LEAN management processes
  • Experience in the use of IT tools to forecast and monitor key maintenance metrics (e.g. work hours and task progression)
  • High level of computer skills in the processing of information in particular Microsoft Office; Excel, Word, Outlook, Project Management, PowerPoint, and Access preferred
  • Experience and competency in the use of SAP for planning activities preferred
  • Knowledge of basic maintenance crafts including electrical, instrumentation, pipe fitting, shop machinists, welding, insulation, painting, field machinists, auto mechanics, HVAC, and carpenters preferred
