Maintenance Planner
Job Summary:
The Martinez Renewable Diesel Facility located in Martinez, California is seeking a Maintenance Planner to plan routine maintenance safely, on schedule, and on budget. This position is responsible for converting work requests to work orders, developing job plans, ordering material and or equipment to effectively execute the routine maintenance work in a safe and economical manner. The Planner coordinates between Operations and Scheduling to effectively execute the work. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop quality job plans for routine, major maintenance, PMs, PdM, unit outages, programs, etc., including job scope packages. Plans will address the following needs:
    • Special tooling
    • Abatement requirements
    • Specialty crafts
    • Contractor crafts
    • Materials
  • Convert notifications to maintenance orders
  • Develop plans that clearly show special instruction and required documentation such as MOC information, QA/QC needs, P&ID's, spec sheets, required skill crafts and duration, specialty tools, and equipment.
  • Perform walk downs on all jobs for scoping and planning including climbing stairs and ladders to reach refinery equipment at heights.
  • Work with reliability engineers, Inspectors and Technicians to assist with developing job scope and repair plans.
  • Participate in backlog review sessions with Operations and assist with backlog updates.
  • Ensure compliance driven scopes are given a high priority (i.e. - safety, environmental, etc.)
  • Requisition materials required to complete scope of maintenance orders. Work with supply chain and vendors to communicate priority of material needs in support of plant operations.
  • Enter requisitions for services and work with Supply chain for procurement. Schedule outside contractors and rental equipment to alignment with maintenance execution schedule.
  • Ensure complex plans are agreed to by OMS, Maintenance foreman, Safety, etc.
  • Ensure MOC process is followed for work involving changes.
  • Work with supply chain/warehouse to write Refurbish WOs for repairable stock equipment.
  • Plan and adjust PM Maintenance Plans as needed/directed.
  • Ensure that Major Maintenance budget items are planned with proper revision coding and support budget spend forecasts.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance programs are developed, planned and ready for on time/budget execution.
  • Develop job plans, packages and execution schedule for routine unit outages.
  • Ensure planning priorities align with the priorities of the Area Teams.
  • Update completed job plans so they can be used on similar scopes.
  • Maintain less than 15% unplanned backlog (%unplanned/total backlog) in assigned area.
  • Monitor spare parts requirements for critical equipment, develop BOMs and request spares as required.
  • Support emergencies on off hours including weekends and be on call out list periodically as required.
Education, Experience and Skills:
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must have at least 5 years maintenance experience in a refinery, petro-chemical or other heavy related industry.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery, be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
  • Strong organizing, planning, critical thinking, and communication skills. With the ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic refining environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficient with ERP systems.
  • Must have strong safety leadership experience and drive for safety focus while planning and executing work.
  • Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field is preferred.
  • Previous experience Planning Refinery Maintenance is preferred.
  • Experience in prioritizing, planning and scheduling work within budget and cost control is preferred.
  • Leadership, especially in safety is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.
