DEPARTMENT: General Services Department - Highways & Utilities Division - Tree Crew
TYPICAL WORK SHIFT/SCHEDULE: Days, Monday thru Friday, Overtime is a requirement.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $25.20 to 29.22 hourly, DOQ. Top of Scale: $33.90

JOB SUMMARY:
Participates in the planting, maintenance, care, and removal of the City's trees, shrubs, and urban canopy using an aerial lift and occasional climbing. Assists the General Services Department with winter street and sidewalk operations. Serves as a lead worker supervising a crew of assigned workers; Interacts with citizens, construction companies, and other representatives from other City departments and divisions.
Current New Hampshire Pesticide License (Operational) for ROW, or ability to obtain.

Tree Identification
Tree pruning, planting, and removal
Bracing and cabling of trees
Tree pest and disease identification
Operation of Aerial lift/bucket

Heavy Equipment Operation
Standard tools, methods, practices, and materials of one or more trades.
Operation of power and other equipment related to assignment.
Electrical hazards awareness.
Typing and operation of computer keyboard for data entry and removal
Skill in:
Operation of required tools and equipment.
Mental and Physical Abilities to:
Safely Climb Trees for Pruning and Removal
Give directions and obtain compliance from assigned staff
Deal courteously diplomatically with the general public
Follow written and oral instructions
Perform routine and strenuous work in all weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, snow and wind.
Be able to lift 100 lbs.
While performing essential functions of this job, employee is regularly expected to stand, walk, sit, lift, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; climb; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
While performing essential functions of this position the employee is regularly exposed or frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, electrical hazards, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particle, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme cold.
