Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, general repairs, and emergency repairs on electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and control systems. This person should be able to use their abilities to solve difficult equipment and process problems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric or gas fired boilers, chillers and PLC/SLC. This person works with little supervision and must be capable of working independently or in a team environment, as the situation dictates. In the absence of a Group Leader or Supervisor this individual may be required to oversee or train lower level personnel.
What you'll do
- Diagnose root cause analysis and repair electrical and mechanical equipment and process problems such as computer operated process lines, pneumatic and electrically operated control systems, and pumps
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment, product or process problem and identify root cause
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities on production, facilities, and auxiliary equipment including, but not limited to:
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s)
- Electric and pneumatic two position and proportioning control valves
- Electrical/electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical single and multiple channel process controllers, or other electromechanical devices.
- Boilers, air compressors, air handlers, chillers, pumps/motors, cooling towers, and purified water treatment systems.
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Communicates relevant information to incoming shift, management and support staff
- Input information into company data system (SAP, MMIS, MVP, etc.) and prepare reports.
- Responsible for capability of assigned equipment by assessing adequacy of preventive maintenance plan and performing the assigned preventive maintenance actions on time
- Provide guidance and training for lower level personnel
- Purchase and maintain equipment, components, spare parts, or repair supplies
- Work safely and follow the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
- Input information into company data systems (SAP, MMIS, etc.) and complete all required documentation per cGMP requirements.
- Support and achieve the objectives given by the Corporation and management team
- Other duties as assigned
Who you are
- Must have the ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Position requires you to stand or squat 50% to 100% of the day
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical and control systems and equipment as typically acquired by an Associates’ degree or 4-5 years related industry experience
- Must have a good attendance record
- Must be able to work overtime with little or no notice.
- Ability to diagnose and repair difficult mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and/or other machine control problems
- Ability to diagnose and repair process problems
- Must have good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of control systems and control system components and troubleshooting including PLC’s
- Knowledge of troubleshooting programmable frequency drives and their relationship to the process
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Maintenance Electrical Certification within one year
- Must accurately and consistently document work performed in CMMS
- Perform job to safety and code requirements
- Work in team environment within the department and other groups i.e. Kaizen or CI teams
- Must be able to wear a respirator which consists of passing a medical survey, pulmonary function test and be medically cleared by a physician.
- Must be able to work safely and to align with the company’s health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures
