Job description

Guidance Preparatory Academy is hiring a maintenance person to take responsibility for the upkeep of our school. Because maintenance cannot be done during the week when children are present, this position is for e-venings and weekends only. It is part-time, 15-20 hours per week. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure property is presentable and inviting.
  • Complete minor repairs as needed: plumbing (repairing leaky faucets, unclogging toilets) flooring (carpet cleaning, linoleum replacing as needed) interior walls (painting, patching holes, staining cabinets) electric (troubleshooting issues, replacing lighting ballasts).
  • Complete checklists of physical condition of property.
  • Assist management with supervision of service contractors.
  • Inspect playground area and equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Ensure buses remain clean and fully functional. Gas when needed.
  • Do weekly trip to Sam's Club to pick up large order of food and supplies.
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • General outdoor upkeep (we have a landscaping company that takes care of the lawns.)

Qualifications for Maintenance

  • Must have 5 years of maintenace experience
  • Must pass a background check
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Competency with tools and repair work
  • Hard working
  • Team player
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide legible written reports
