Position Description
Naiad Dynamics US, Inc. (ND) is seeking an experience Manufacturing Engineer for our Shelton, Connecticut facility. Reporting to the Group Production Manager, the ideal candidate will have experience planning, organizing and leading production jobs and work processes in a CNC and manual machining production environment. We are seeking a quality conscious self-starter who has CNC machining knowledge and the ability to improve workflows and help set and meet production timelines.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate manufacturing processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Create or modify processes and procedures to improve productivity.
- Review and estimate labor, material and other production costs to help company meet budgetary and performance goals, and to quote contract machining work from time to time.
- Help manage production schedules and coordinate outside processing services to maximize productivity.
- Evaluate machinist tasks and responsibilities, identifying procedures or tools to improve productivity.
- Design tooling and machining fixtures, potentially program or edit programs of CNC machinery.
- Support quality assurance and related scrap and waste reduction initiatives.
- Solve manufacturing problems; collaborate with and influence design engineers to enhance product manufacturability.
- Analyze and help plan plant workflow and machinery placement to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Reduce downtime. Keep machinery in optimal working order by coordinating maintenance and repair services and ensuring operator maintenance procedures and schedules are reliably followed.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent degree or experience.
- 5 – 10 years of experience in a CNC machining manufacturing environment.
- Strong math and analytical skills suitable for manufacturing engineering & CNC programming.
- Working knowledge of production machinery and machining processes.
- Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (interpretation of engineering detail drawings).
- Prior machining experience. CNC programming and CAD-CAM knowledge beneficial.
- Prior experience with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Proficiency using MRP and similar computer based technologies in a production manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Ability to help motivate and positively influence production workforce personnel.
