ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Plans and designs manufacturing processes in industrial plant. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization. Determines parts and tools needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
Lead and supervise the manufacturing engineering team. Support plant operations and new product development and marketing teams with their project design, development, launch, and implementation project phases. Execute strategies for sustaining uptime and asset availability for manufacturing operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
- Lead, design, detail, and development of equipment specifications for new product development and manufacturing operations.
- Quote tooling cost, capital cost, cycle times, and process flow.
- Work with cross functional development team (Product Management, Part Design Engineering, Tooling Engineering, & Finance) related to design for manufacture.
- Collaborates with other managers and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams.
- Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; makes and implements recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Perform project management activities for significantly large projects, including new product development, facility changes, infrastructure, and other strategic initiatives.
- Supervises manufacturing engineers, ensuring all work is performed accurately and according to quality and safety standards.
- Provides guidance and oversight in development and execution of plant renovations and expansions, coordinates outside contractors and vendors.
- Ensures new project compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements.
- Prepares and implements the departmental budget.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
At least 10 years relevant experience required.
- Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing products or product components
- Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques for designing, building and managing the manufacture of new products
- Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for the design of new products and the enhancement of existing products; ability to apply the methodology in diverse scenarios
- Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for manufacturing new or enhancing existing products
- Ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing
- Knowledge and associated ability to apply technical, scientific and mathematical knowledge to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Thorough understanding of injection molding processes, plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling/ equipment including robots and automation.
- Knowledge of High Pressure, Structural Foam, Thermoforming, and Compression molding techniques.
- Project management skills and experience required to launch new tooling into production.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Large tonnage molding machine experience (750t to 3000t) preferred.
- Ability to handle the stress of working with others.
- Availability outside of normal business hours.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills: Ability to assess employee performance, coach and develop others as well as ability to lead by example.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and project plans.
