Job description
The Manufacturing Production Supervisor role will be responsible for direct leadership of shop floor personnel to achieve a safe & productive work environment while improving metrics aligned to safety, quality, delivery, and cost. As a Manufacturing Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for the below:
- Leadership, oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees to ensure all employees work safe, produce quality, work efficiently, and control variable cost.
- Redefine processes and procedures on a regular basis and require frequent interaction with adjacent functions (e.g. engineering, planning, maintenance)
- Handles latitude in manufacturing techniques. Manufacturing process requires choosing right approaches.
- Setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees
- Ability to coach poor performing employees to a higher level and motivating the entire group toward sustained high-performance
- Ensure productivity targets are met along with executing to dispatch per the system
- Ensure production downtime is kept to a minimum
- Leverage digital platforms to capture, track and at address, safety, quality, delivery, and cost and resolve accordingly
- Implement improvements in cell to improve variable cost productivity which will create a more competitive business to support our customers
- Challenge status quo relationships with support staff and resolve recurring issues that limit the team’s performance
- Generate new ways to manufacture components by leveraging an internal & external network
- Own a competency matrix to ensure there is adequate cross training and skills required to support the business
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; developing personal growth opportunities
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in Manufacturing)
- Proficient in MS Office suite of products, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Proficient in Workday software
- Proficient with shop floor control systems, i.e. data acquisition & sensor enablement
- Experience in driving utilization gains with data derived from ERP and machine assets
- Demonstrated ability to drive results through individual efforts and influencing others, without authority over them, with outcomes focused on 6S, SMED, and VSM.
Desired Characteristics
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Production Supervision.
- 5+ years of supply chain experience
- Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt Certified
- Bi-lingual
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to hold production teams to a high standard through a fair and consistent approach
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
- Effective problem identification and solution skills.
- Proven analytical and organizational ability.
- Demonstrated ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact and to drive innovation throughout the manufacturing site to better position the business to support customers and compete in the market
