Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator

Definition:

Under general supervision, the Resource Coordinator will be responsible for developing program, financial and volunteer resources to support agency programs. In general, the incumbent will work to plan, develop, and promote a meaningful and productive volunteer program and connect with the local community to increase regular monetary donations. The Resource Coordinator is an integral part of all phases of a resource development program.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The classification exist to plan, develop, and implement donor and volunteer development programs, and formulate and implement community based activities, fund raisers, multi-media and social media activities in support of Agency.

Reports To:

Chief Executive Officer or designee

Classifications Supervised:

This is not a supervisory classification, but may work in a lead advisory capacity to provide work direction, guidance and training to Volunteers, Interns and other support staff.

Examples of Important and Essential Job Duties: (The following is used as a partial description and is not restrictive as to duties required. Incumbent’s duties may vary, depending on the department assigned.)

· Act as a liaison between Agency programs and the community at large and between staff, volunteers, and recipients of the services;

· Maintains public contacts in the community and public/private sectors in order to implement fund raising strategies;

· Receives and acknowledges gifts in accordance with policies;

· Develops and implements fund raising strategies and informational programs to encourage support of Agency programs;

· Develop appropriate material for social media and maintain robust social media presence across multiple social media platforms;

· Responsible for developing and implementing approved fund raising events;

· Prepared/gathers information and performs special projects, such as VITA;

· Work closely with any contracted marketing firm to provide requested deliverables;

· Work with staff to plan volunteer recruitment programs;

· Determine where volunteers are needed and write job descriptions for volunteer roles;

· Recruit, interview, select, and place qualified volunteer applicants;

· Plan and implement volunteer training programs;

· Keep records of and supervise volunteer service using VOMO or other similar software;

· Keep volunteers motivated and enthusiastic;

· Prepare and implement performance and organizational evaluations;

· Provide regular Activity Reports to Chief Executive Officer or designee;

· Maintain an up-to-date volunteer contact list to be used by volunteers who require substitutes to fill their shifts on an occasional basis;

· Develop, distribute, and promote information about Agency and its programs;

· Participate in weekly staff meetings / consensus decision making to help provide leadership and accountability for meeting program goals.

Typical Physical Requirements:

Sit for extended periods; frequently stands and walks; stoops, kneels and crouches to pick up or move objects; physical ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephone, copier, and FAX.

Typical Working Conditions:

Work is performed in office, outdoor, and driving environments; some assignments performed alone in remote locations; work is performed in varying temperatures; continuous contact with program participants, other staff and the public.

Minimum Qualifications: (Qualifications may vary, depending on department needs.)

Knowledge of:

  • Personal Computers and software applications relevant to the department programs.
  • Multiple Social Media platforms.
  • Establishment and maintenance of files and information retrieval system.
  • Good publicrelations techniques.
  • Principles of staff supervision and training.
  • Community resources.
  • Must be perceptive and sensitive to the feelings of all and able to draw out their strengths, abilities, and life-learned experiences, so they can be applied productively.
  • Understanding and acceptance of the needs of low income, minority and special needs families.

Ability to:

  • Treat all people with respect and integrity, and give them the opportunity to develop to the fullest extent of their capacities.
  • Clarify goals and nurture teamwork and act as a teacher and motivator for volunteers.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Adhere to Agency policies and procedures, and requirements of program funding source.
  • Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff.
  • Develop and maintain record systems.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Maintain and observe all safety precautions and practices.
  • Interpret, explain and apply Agency policies, rules and regulations.

Training and Experience:

A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

· Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, public relations, or a related field; And

· Two (2) years of experience in professional fund development, professional volunteer management, or public relations/marketing; Or

· Any combination of education and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

Special Requirements:

· Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License with a good driving record; eligible for Agency automobile insurance coverage per Guidelines for Drivers of Agency Owned Vehicles.

· Pass a post job-offer / pre-employment background check.

· Pass a post job-offer / pre-employment drug test.

· May be required to pass a Fingerprint Life Scan.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.11 - $25.79 per hour
