DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY
We are looking for a full-time energetic leader to handle the sales and events at Davis St. This position also bundles the marketing, in-house events, promos, and entertainment. This person should be detail-oriented, highly organized, passionate about hospitality, and experienced. You will work in a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork. You will work directly with clients to plan and organize exciting, innovative dining experiences and events. You will lead a well-rounded and knowledgeable front-of-house team, equipping them with service etiquette and details for each event. You'll act as an ambassador for the restaurant and deliver authentic, friendly service to compel repeat visits from our guests.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is a list of primary job duties that the Assistant General Manager would be responsible for. This list is not exhaustive and may include other tasks as assigned by management:
- promote and represent Davis St. in the most professional manner that adheres to our core values
- Solicit and promote special event business through advertising, cold-calling, contacting past customers, networking events, relationships with local businesses and other cost-effective activities.
- Consult with guests to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, special parties, and Events & Caterings
- Negotiate final pricing, prepare contracts and secure customer signatures and deposits required
- Develop and maintain an updated and detailed price sheet of all billable products and services that accurately reflects todays costs and the company’s profit objectives
- Detail final arrangements with clients on BEO
- Obtain all specifications and pertinent information concerning the event, including but not limited to, number attending, schedule of events and menu.
- Regularly review upcoming events and have a thorough understanding and communication of all requirements on upcoming scheduled events.
- Coordinate services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing and event security.
- Facilitation of obtaining equipment and supplies needed for each event, ensuring that they meet customer expectations and requirements.
- Confer with staff at a chosen event site to coordinate details.
- Inspect event space prior to the start of each function (check room setup, menu, service staff, etc.) to be sure it conforms to the function sheet.
- Ensure that all the details of the event are executed at a high-level
- Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner.
- Prepare and complete an accurate bill to the guest at the completion of the function and collect final payment.
- Direct and supervise breakdown and cleanup after the event.
- Account for all equipment and supplies. Return restaurant items to storage areas.
- Return or arrange for return of rented materials.
- Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.
- Work with marketing team to target and gain new leads and client acquisitions
- Work on new promotional ideas and configure the operational and execution details
- Work with marketing team to create new promotional graphics, specials, events and strategy
- Cross promote with marketing team on obtaining and presenting content
- The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts.
- Attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective communication between departments.
- Supervises service employees
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate would have the following combinations of skills, education, abilities and attributes:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-4 years of progressive work experience in sales and event managing in hospitality industry
- Food Handler Certification, TABC
- Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge
- Familiarity with computer and restaurant management software, like OpenTable, Revention TripleSeat, Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Suite, etc.
- Strong leadership, motivational and people skills
- Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving skills, and organizational ability.
- Hardworking, dedicated, with a real passion for hospitality.
- Ability to work evenings, mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
