POSITION SUMMARY:

  • As part of the Analytical Research and Development (ARD) group in Biotherapeutics Pharmaceutical Sciences, we are seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven, and optimistic a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. degree (with at least 7+, 5+, and 0-3 years of work experience, respectively) level candidate specializing in the protein expression, purification and charaterization.
  • The successful candidate will provide support for LC-MS and LC-MS/MS method development and qualification in support of quantitation of mRNA expressed proteins in cells as well as in-depth structural elucidation of these proteins.
  • As such, candidate should have in-depth understanding and hands-on experience with the expression, purification, enrichment, and characterization of antibodies, proteins, and/or vaccine products that includes commensurate technical knowledge and skills.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working at the interface of analytical chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, as well as interacting with cross-site research groups.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, effective time-management, an innovative spirit, and the ability and desire to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced, team-oriented environment are essential for the position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, qualify, and benchmark the LC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS quantitative method to monitor expression of proteins in cells post mRNA transfection.
  • Develop novel strategies and methods with the latest UHPLC and MS technologies for more informative and efficient product characterization and process monitoring.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates should have a B.S. 7+ years work experience, M.S. 5+ years work experience, or Ph.D. 0-3 years work experience in chemistry, biochemistry or related field, and a primary focus on protein mass spectrometry, commensurate with graduate studies, postdoctoral research, and/or work experience.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Specialization in protein biochemistry and mass spectrometry (LC/MS, LC/MS/MS) is required.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with protein purification and qualitative as well as quantitative protein analysis is required.
  • Experience in cell culture and aseptic techniques is required.
  • Extensive experience with well-established MS approaches and methods for the detailed structural analysis of therapeutic proteins is required.
  • Familiarity with mRNA/DNA and protein therapeutics is highly desired with respect to structural characterization approaches, challenges and gaps, and regulatory principles.
  • MS-based method development experience is highly desired for implementing more informative and efficient approaches to product characterization and process monitoring

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Position requires typical physical conditions for standard laboratory and office work
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.
