Material Planner – Rochester Hills, MI
The purpose of this position is to manage component part inventory including database management, support of inventory goals and objectives, and corporate reporting. The position requires working with various groups, as well as the supply base, to obtain information which will assist in setting appropriate stocking levels, developing forecasts, minimizing inventory while maximizing material availability as measured by Net Inventory Turns & ability to ship on-time, complete and accurate. Primary responsibilities will include:
- Analyze component inventory for assigned product lines to determine the appropriate stocking levels to meet requirements
- Determine material requirements via Oracle MRP Order Report
- Daily Confirmation of Planned Orders to Purchasing and follow up as required
- Establish material schedules with suppliers and ensure promised PO delivery dates are met
- Analyze usage history, component lead times, demand, and forecast to maintain appropriate min/max & safety stock levels
- Daily analysis of component delivery schedules to ensure no material shortages.
- Contact suppliers to expedite and resolve material shortages as necessary
- Interact with other departments including Product Development and Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Service to assist in setting component stocking levels which will achieve 100% customer satisfaction
- Analyze data to assist in forecasting component demand
- Work to enhance current ERP System to Streamline / Eliminate Non-value added or inefficient processes or tasks
- Work with suppliers to identify ways to reduce the number of material shortages and component lead times
- Process ECOs as required to ensure proper stock within 24 hours
- Maintain strong knowledge of assigned commodities and keep up to date on product lines
- Work with QA & Logistics to return excess material to suppliers for credit
- Work with Engineering/Purchasing to determine make/buy decision for new components
- Identify excess/obsolete component parts for scrap
- Work as part of the Material Review Board to disposition Non-Conforming Material
- Other duties as assigned
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
- Bachelor’s degree in business/supply chain or equivalent relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a material management capacity
- Specialized certification preferred (e.g. APICS)
- Ability to master product technical knowledge
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
