PURPOSE OF POSITION
Person must be able to perform the job functions of Comb plate Installer, Motor Installer and Track Installer.
COMBPLATE INSTALLER
- Read Technical Data Sheet, Variable sheet and general work order to determine the specifications of the comb plate needed for the escalator.
- Retrieve needed parts and fixtures to have same readily available.
- Put comb plate onto fixture to ensure comb plate is in proper location.
- Check measurements of comb plate for both top and bottom to verify compliance.
- Grind comb plates and truss to remove excess paint.
- Tack the paddles to hold comb plate in place and connects truss with comb plate.
- Weld comb plate onto truss to secure comb plate to truss.
- Attach fixtures to secure to truss.
- Attach balustrade uprights to hold glass channel brackets in place.
- Attach handrail emergency stops to ensure stops are operational.
- Install glass channel to ensure channel is properly installed.
- Remove holding fixtures to complete production process.
- Assemble and install deflection pulley subassemblies.
- Perform pre-work and post-work quality checks to ensure quality.
- Complete all SAP inventory transactions; complete all paperwork as necessary.
- Complete all tasks as necessary; assist in other areas as needed.
MOTOR INSTALLER
- Read work order, technical data sheet and variable sheet to determine requirement of unit.
- Use overhead crane to lift motor and place inside unit for installation.
- Use dial indicator to identify high and low points on bull gear to aid in alignment.
- Install pinion and use alignment fixture to ensure motor is in proper alignment.
- Get drive chain and install to ensure chain is in place to move steps.
- Loosen base plate and adjust to tighten motor and chain.
- Tighten pins on chain to secure chain.
- Install brackets on to ensure lubrication unit is operational.
- Install broken chain switch and verify operation of the emergency brake to ensure emergency cut off devices are in place.
- Complete all SAP inventory transactions, complete all paperwork as necessary.
- Complete all tasks as necessary, assist in other areas as needed
TRACK INSTALLER
- Read Technical Data Sheet, Variable sheet and general work order to determine dimensions of track needed for installation into the escalator.
- Cut track to length and align track to ensure proper spacing for installation.
- Secure track into place by “tack” welding; weld gaps to prevent excessive bouncing of steps.
- Grind and blend welded area of track to a smooth finish for adequate roller flow.
- Measure, cut, and install up thrust bar; align and secure by welding.
- Install bottom contact switch stop for installation of safety switch.
- Perform pre-work and post-work quality checks to ensure quality.
- Complete all SAP inventory transactions; complete all paperwork as necessary.
- Complete all tasks as necessary; assist in other areas as needed.

Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Language Ability:
- Blueprint reading and interpretation. Read and carry out complicated instructions.
Math Ability:
- Basic mathematic skills
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to read and understand required documents
Computer Skills:
- Basic computer skills
