We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Maritime Sustainment Engineering group located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works in a multi-disciplinary group with other Mechanical Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Control Engineers, Software Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers to modify existing designs, produce designs, and prototype hardware for internal and external customers.
- Performs failure analysis, trade studies and cost and schedule pressures.
- Performs structural design, materials selection, utilize appropriate selection and application of stress criteria.
- Writes technical reports, generate process documentation, participates in vendor selection, and provides manufacturing and vendor oversight.
- Provides direction to manufacturing, test, subcontracts or technician staff.
- Maintains a currency in CAD techniques, ANSI Y4.15 drawing principles as well as applicable state-of-the-art engineering design software applications.
Qualifications
- Typically requires an Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and 2 or more years of progressive experience in 3D CAD solid modeling.
- Experienced in the use of CREO.
- Understanding for the mechanical design and analysis of custom high-energy, high-voltage, high- current pulsed power systems and energy storage systems highly preferred.
- Complete understanding of engineering design concepts including ANSI Y4.15 and demonstrate a high skill using engineering software applications.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required
- Must be proficient with MS Office.
- Pro/Engineer or equivalent 3-D CAD system required.
- Must understand GD&T.
- Experience in defense program acquisition, shipbuilding, ship design, construction and repair.
- An EIT (Engineer in Training) certificate or PE (Professional Engineer) license is desirable
- Familiar with ANSYS, NASGRO, AutoCAD, MatLab and MathCAD is desirable.
- Experience in Winchill is a plus.
- Experience in SAP is a plus.
