POSITION DESCRIPTION
General Summary
Aylett Family Wellness provides primary healthcare, is located in Aylett, Virginia and serves the King William community and the surrounding area. The clinic has an onsite pharmacy and an onsite lab for our patients. The goal of Aylett Family Wellness is to provide high quality compassionate healthcare and we are seeking individuals who share that goal.
Position
Medical Assistant (MA)
Seeking a skilled and experienced MA to provide outstanding patient care and physical support for patients on a daily basis. The MA will need to have a basic understanding of patient care and medical terminology. The MA will be responsible for obtaining patient records and test results, preparing treatment rooms for examinations, and assisting our practitioners during medical procedures. In addition to assisting medical staff, the MA responsibilities include scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments, checking patients in, and verifying patient’s demographical information. They should be able to ensure that sufficient time is allocated to each appointment. They should be helpful and courteous when answering telephone calls and greeting patients.
Provide exceptional patient care.
Scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling patient appointments as required.
Answering patients’ questions regarding basic medical tests and procedures.
Providing instructions to patients to ensure that they are prepared for examinations and procedures.
Confirming patient appointments.
Courteously receiving incoming telephone calls and taking messages as needed.
Explaining financial requirements and obligations to patients and entering payments into the practice management system.
Scheduling referral appointments and follow-ups.
Verifying insurance details and informing patients of un-covered fees.
Obtain and record patient medical history, vitals, test results and other relevant information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality
Obtain a wide range of information from physicians about patient condition and treatment plans.
Prepare treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assist practitioners with medical procedures and other patient care.
Note observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms.
Deliver compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
Stay up to date on training and facility policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Qualifications:
Certification from a medical assistant program (preferred).
Five years of experience in a medical setting (preferred).
Current CPR (American Heart Association).
Ability to think and work independently and with direction.
Ability to communicate with staff members in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Maintain a basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant practice scope.
High School graduate or equivalent.
Strong computer skills.
Other Requirements:
