Pavana Treatment Group is seeking a friendly, and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team as we help patients fight against opioid dependence. Many people have been impacted by the opioid epidemic. We at Pavana Treatment Group (PTG) work tirelessly to help those seeking help for their addiction. Come join us as we support our patients in their treatment journey. We are currently open just two days a week so the position is part time, for now.

The MA will work closely with the practice staff to provide high quality patient care and ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently. This position will work directly with patients primarily in the back office performing clinical functions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be non-judgmental, and be adaptable to a dynamic environment. PTG is a privately owned medical group with locations in Gastonia, Monroe, and Fayetteville, NC. PTG’s mission is to form trusting relationships between our staff, patients, and the community in order to provide the highest quality of care possible to all patients that present for opiate use disorder treatment.

Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interviewing patients, obtaining consents, recording medical history, gathering specimens for toxicology tests, and performing vitals.
  • Willing and able to assist the medical providers as needed and work under their supervision.
  • Assist with holding patients accountable in their journey to recovery by enforcing clinic policy and communicating with patients as needed.
  • Communicate with patients regarding scheduling, referrals, counseling, pharmacy information, etc.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures including cleaning and disinfecting policies.
  • Assist with administrative functions as needed.
  • Maintains medical supplies inventory, places orders, and verifies receipt of supplies.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Experienced with information technology and electronic medical record systems required.
  • Must be able to work in US legally.
  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.

  • Adaptable/flexible – Requires the ability to think quickly and adjust seamlessly both with patients and office staff and processes. Must enjoy constant change, growth, and improvement. Great opportunity for someone who likes to contribute new ideas and push for improvements in processes.
  • Detail-oriented – Must have attention to detail and the ability to focus on the details to ensure proper medical treatment and documentation.
  • Effective communication – Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Compassion – Must want to help patients and not be judgmental of the patient of their circumstances.

Experience:

  • 2+ years in a medical setting at minimum

Job Type: This is a part time position responsible for 16 hours per week. As the practice grows there will be opportunity to add more days until we reach 40 hours per week.
