We are a large sub-specialty ophthalmology practice seeking an experienced and talented Billing Manager to oversee and facilitate the billing and A/R operations of our practice. Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of medical billing and management experience in a physician office setting (ophthalmology/Medicaid billing experience preferred). Strong employee management, analytical, communication, problem solving & computer skills also required.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise reconciliation of all cash and credit card transactions daily
- Formulate bank deposits on an as needed basis
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial and patient reports for the Practice Administrator and physicians
- Maintain a monthly account of receivables over 30/60 and 90 days seeing that overdue accounts are addressed within the company policies and procedures
- Bad debt write-off oversight, under approval from physician partners and the Practice Administrator
- Oversight of the patient statements and collection process
- Oversight of the insurance verification and prior authorization personnel and process
- Oversight of claims denials
- Coordinate all patient and insurance refunds
- Coordinate billing collections and deposits
- Direct management of the Billing staff -
- Payroll approval
- Maintaining staff schedules
- Onboarding and training new staff
- Maintaining employee department personnel files
- Conducting performance evaluations and managing employee performance
- Conducting monthly staff meetings and regular staff check-ins.
- Creating and maintaining all department workflows
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with A/R and medical billing for Medicare, commercial and medical assistance insurances.
- Working knowledge of collections laws.
- Experience with Nextech practice management software and Trizetto is helpful.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
